Dealing with even the mildest menopause symptoms can be frustrating for most women. Hot flashes, diminished sex drive, hair loss, weight gain, headaches and mood swings can add up to make this period of woman’s life uncomfortable to say the least. Though controversial for the treatment or prevention of certain diseases or ailments, new evidence shows that hormone replacement therapy can be beneficial for certain women; keeping risk factors in mind of course.
Because hormonal imbalances can cause a myriad of symptoms, ranging from the temporary like those above to the more serious including osteoporosis and breast cancer, therapy offers many women relief for both the short and long term. Menopause is often the period of life that most women experience these drops in hormones and the symptoms that accompany them.
As Woodstock and Buckhead’s chosen health and wellness center, we recommend hormone replacement therapy only after a full personal consultation and exam. Though there are a bevy of benefits to be experienced by HRT, there are health factors that preclude certain women from receiving such. If you have a history of heart disease, stroke, blood clots or breast cancer, hormone therapy is not recommended as certain HRT doses can increase the risk of such. However, for most women, systemic estrogen is the most effective treatment for symptoms of menopause.
Schedule your comprehensive consultation by calling either of our wellness centers in Woodstock of Buckhead or by filling out our online form. We’d be happy to help you determine if HRT is right for you.
