Low back pain is one of the most common ailments affecting people around the world. If you live in Woodstock GA or Buckhead GA you might want to consider a chiropractor is you suffer from this dreadful condition. Low back pain has many different causes including but not limited to, muscle strain, bulging/herniated discs, kidney disorders, poor posture, tight muscles etc. Treatments vary but going to a qualified chiropractor may offer some incredible relief. In our two offices, Woodstock GA and Buckhead GA ,our highly trained chiropractors help patients who suffer from low back pain. We use a variety of different treatment modalities including: chiropractic adjustments, electrical muscle stimulation, disc decompressive technique, traction, exercises and specific stretches. If you are looking for a chiropractor in Woodstock GA or Buckhead GA please give our office a call at 770-926-4646. We will get you on our schedule and hopefully get you back to feeling better as soon as possible. It is estimated that approximately 8 out of 10 people will experience back pain at some point in their lives. As a result of this, many people experience back pain and are not sure how to treat it. Most people will rest and may take some over the counter medicine at first. If you have tried this and the pain does not go away, don’t wait for it to get worse. Get checked out by one of our trained chiropractors in Woodstock GA or Buckhead GA and start the process of healing. Many published guidelines recommend starting chiropractic treatment early in the care of low back pain.
What to expect when going to a chiropractor-Initially it will be not much different than going to any other doctor. A lot of information will be asked, a history of your primary complaint and then an evaluation will take place. The evaluation will check to see the mechanical functioning of the spine and see if there are any restrictions and areas of particular pain. If necessary X-rays will be taken.
After that depending on what the evaluation reveals it is time to get treated. The chiropractic adjustment or manipulation is usually done by hand or with a hand held instrument. It is never designed to be painful, but we explain to our patients if you have never had it done it is “different.” After getting adjusted,it is common to do some light stretching and possibly apply some ice to the affected area. The entire process should be very comforting and most of time offer some sought after relief.
Depending on the severity of the particular low back pain, recommendations will be given on when to return, and specific at home instructions will be given.
Low back pain can be debilitating and should never be taken lightly. If you experience it and it does not go away it is always prudent to get evaluated by a quality professional. In our office we employ both medical doctors, chiropractors and nurse practitioners so we offer an integrated approach to dealing with low back pain. If you or a loved one is suffering with low back pain please contact one of our offices in Woodstock GA or Buckhead GA and let us help you alleviate the dreadful low back pain experience.

What exactly does a chiropractor do? Woodstock Chiropractor

As I have been in practice for over twenty years this is a question that there is a lot of misconceptions about: what exactly does a chiropractor do? I have been a practicing chiropractor in Woodstock Georgia for over 20 years and I have treated thousands of patients in Woodstock and the surrounding Atlanta areas.

To answer this question we must first evaluate and explain that chiropractors find and detect misalignments in the spine. We do this by a variety of methods including but not limited to; physical examination, x-rays, thermal scanning, range of motion studies and more.

Once we have determined that a misalignment is present, we can then adequately address the misalignment and treat it appropriately. This then begs the question-what exactly does a chiropractor do to treat the misalignment? This is where there is a lot of misinformation. What we do, is we use our hands or an instrument to adjust the misaligned vertebrae back into its normal alignment. Some potential new patients think that we “pop and crack” bones back into place. This creates a lot of fear in potentially new patients who have never been adjusted before. The truth is that when doing manual adjustments a patient may hear a “cracking” sound which is  not the bones “cracking.” It is simply the release of nitrogenous gas in the joint. It is the equivalent of packaging bubbles that are filled with compressed air that when pressed create a “popping sound.” For patients that do not feel comfortable with this type of adjustment we offer lower force adjustments with instruments that do not create any “popping sound.” Either way, the goal is not to necessarily hear anything but to return the misaligned vertebrae back to its normal alignment. From my experience, the adjustment should never, ever hurt. It should actually feel really good.

The difference with our chiropractic office in Woodstock Georgia is that we also have medical professionals on staff. We have a medical office in which we also do chiropractic care. This should give added assurance to any new potential patients that we are very concerned about your overall health and make sure we are diligent in making sure that our patients are good candidates for chiropractic care .Once we accept you as a patient we are very confident that we can help you with a wide array of ailments that you may be suffering from : back pain, neck pain, shoulder pain, knee pain, headaches, tight and uncomfortable muscular pains and a whole host of other similar ailments.

In addition, I have spent my entire adult life in the fitness industry and I am an avid exercise/yoga person. I incorporate that into the chiropractic treatments that we provide. We do this so that we can reach our mission of “transforming our patients lives so they have the absolute highest quality of life possible,”

If you are looking for a chiropractor in Woodstock Georgia, look no further. Give our office a call we have a 24/7 call center that can get you in to see if chiropractic can help you! Please give us a call or comment below with any questions you may have-(770) 926-4646

Our medical weight loss professionals will design not just a weight loss plan, but also a lifestyle change. Many people believe if they change their diet they will have magical and thrilling results. However, we know that it takes hard work, dedication, and longevity. Changing the way you are living is going to be the ultimate path to your success when it involves your health and wellness.

In our last post, we went over some delicious super foods for you to start to implement into your lifestyle. In this blog, we are going to go over some reasons why you may need medical weight loss to begin with. Being overweight and even obese can be caused by many different things within your genetics and your environment. Here we will go over some of the surprising reasons you may suffer from being overweight.

Not enough ZZZ’s.

Believe it or not, how much sleep we’re getting each night is not only important to our overall health and well-being but also to our weight. Most people, when they can’t sleep, seek comfort in food. Most of these foods end up being unhealthy and terrible to eat right before bed. Also, our sleep is directly connected to our hormone levels. If you are sleep deprived, you may be experiencing a rise in your cortisol hormone levels, causing the fat storage in your body to increase as well. Not only is this hormone a big player in your sleep pattern, but leptin and ghrelin, the hormones that tell your brain if you are hungry or full, also are affected. Start your lifestyle change with baby steps. When getting the adequate amount of sleep, we are sure you will see a large change moving forward.

Going Out to Eat

If you are in a relationship, or you like to go out for a night on the town with your friends, most of the time this outing consists of eating food and possibly consuming some drinks. When you are eating out at restaurants at a consistent rate, this can have a lot to do with your weight gain. Most times, when in a group and out, you tend to change your eating habits to those around you. Furthermore, you also tend to let your eating inhibitions fly out the window. Basically this means you’ll eat whatever and however much you feel at that moment. One way you can succeed with medical weight loss is by cooking your meals at home and going out much less frequently. We aren’t saying never go out again, but keep it in moderation and you will be able to see a difference in not only your habits but your waistband.

Overindulging

Many people think that as long as they stick to a healthy regimen throughout the week, they can go wild on the weekends when it comes to the food they eat. We want you to be healthy every day of the week, not just 9-5. Sticking with your new medical weight loss routine is essential for you to get the results we know you deserve. If you have friends or a significant other who loves to go out, eat before you go. That way, when you are at dinner, you can get something light and delicious that you won’t need to feel so guilty about. Additionally, portion control is big when you are away from the home. Keep an eye on the portion sizes and how much you are consuming. If you are aware of how this meal will affect your progress, you are less likely to overindulge, because you are in the know of the consequences.

Portions

As we just mentioned, your portion size could be the culprit of your weight problem. Most individuals will simply not believe the notion that eating more will cause weight loss, but it’s true! When you consume smaller meals throughout the day, you usually end up eating about 5-6 times, where before you were eating maybe 2-3 large meals. One way to help you eat a better portion is to use smaller plates. The smaller plate will make it appear you have a lot of food, which sends a signal to the brain and then down to your stomach. When you go out to a restaurant, ask for a smaller portion size if available, especially if the item is high in calories.

Drinking Your Calories

With Coke® being oh so delicious with its bubbles, unique taste, and thirst quenching ability, it’s hard to believe that the cons outweigh the benefits. Not only is Coke® the culprit, but really any sugary drink that isn’t water. This can include Powerade®, Gatorade®, and even your morning cappuccino. These are basically empty calories you are choosing to expose your body to, which is increasing your weight and keeping you unhealthy. A solution is, and we know it’s difficult, put down the Coke can and walk away. With meals, it’s better to drink water, as it will help you feel full. When you want a Coke or other soft drink, consider it a treat for the day, not a constant habit. If coffee is your vice, try to be conscious about the sugar and cream content within the steaming cup.

Not Reading Labels

When the words “Fat-Free” hit the market, people were ecstatic. You mean there’s a way to have ranch dressing and not gain weight?! Wrong. This label is misleading as is anything stating there’s no fat, or low in fat. When you look at a food label, you need to pay attention to the other ingredients within the product. Sugar is the main thing to look for because too much sugar can throw off your insulin balance, which can cause weight gain. One thing you can try, and we know it is difficult, is to cut out processed foods altogether. However, we did see in our last post how foods rich in fiber and other nutrients are good for you and can be tasty at the same time.

As you can see, most of the things on our list are habits you need to change. When introducing medical weight loss into your life, we will help you get the results you deserve, Our program isn’t about telling you about what you’re doing wrong. It’s about educating you and teaching how to live a better life when it comes to nutrient consumption. Our medical weight loss professionals are caring, compassionate, and are here for all your medical weight loss needs. Can My PCOS Make it Hard for Me to Lose Weight?

After recently posting a blog regarding why it can be difficult for people to lose weight, regardless of how hard they try, we received a question by one of our readers regarding her personal health concern and its effect on her weight loss efforts. She was concerned that her Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome could be causing her inability to shed pounds.

Fortunately, she’s not far off with her conclusion. Unfortunately, there are many factors related to her PCOS that causes sufferers to not be able to lose weight as desired.

Though not completely impossible, weight loss seems like an uphill battle for many sufferers of this condition. Why? According to PCOSdietsupport.com, these factors come into play, making weight loss a struggle:

  • Insulin production and resistance – PCOS has been shown to cause or increase dysfunctions in the cells that secrete insulin. By overreacting, these cells often produce more insulin than needed. These overreactions cause more glucose in the blood to be stored as fat. Insulin resistance, suffered by some women with PCOS, causes the body to need more insulin than normal to break down and process blood sugar. High levels of insulin also causes your body to store more fat.
  • Increased appetite – Unfortunately, the presence of certain hormones that control appetite and hunger are negatively affected by PCOS. Because of this condition, women with PCOS often continue to feel hungry even after consuming regular amounts of calories and nutrients.
  • Slow metabolism – Recent studies also show that wome with PCOS usually suffer from a slower metabolism than their counterparts. Because sufferers burn calories and fat at a slower rate than others, they need a reduced number of daily calories. Where it is estimated that the average woman needs about 1800 calories, it is estimated that women with PCOS only need about 1400 calories a day. Paired with the increased hunger and appetite brought on by the condition, the combination is not one that is conducive to easy weight loss.

As Buckhead’s experts in medical weight loss, we recommend that women with PCOS get a full medical evaluation from their personal physician before attempting any weight loss program but are happy to provide health tips for women from all over the area. Safe and healthy weight loss can be complicated and often extends beyond just healthy eating and regular exercise. By working with your personal health issues and past struggles, we can help you lose weight when our plan is in conjunction with your regular health care routine. Of course, in instances where a medical condition exists, we would require a full exam and medical consultation in order to create a sensible plan.

How Your Chiropractor Delivers More Than Just Pain Relief

Ask almost any American about chiropractors and what they do, and you’re bound to get a load of misinformation, myths and downright lies. Its not the fault of the average person really. Unfortunately, a war on chiropractic, and other forms of alternative medicine, has been initiated by some in Western traditional medicine and the propaganda that has been spread has frightened many away from trying the treatment for themselves. Therefore, many Americans still believe that chiropractors belong to some type of pseudo-science that ends up doing more harm than good. More and more studies are starting to turn the tide, however, bringing more people around to the discovery that chiropractic adjustments do more than deliver drug-free pain relief.

How your chiropractor in Woodstock can help

After starting regular visits with a chiropractor in Woodstock, many of our patients report that previously existing health issues either lessened in intensity or frequency, or had diminished altogether. Body-wide health improvements include:

  • Increased fertility – Numerous couples who had previously experienced trouble trying to conceive, found that unblocking nerve signals through spinal adjustments helped result in healthy pregnancies.
  • Easier periods – Women of all ages also reported that periods were easier and less complicated during chiropractic care.
  • A stronger immune system – Studies show that those who undergo routine spinal adjustments experience the flu, colds and other common illnesses less than their chiropractor-shunning counterparts.
  • Improved digestion – Chiropractic care has been shown to help with both constipation and recurring diarrhea, acid reflux and heartburn.
  • Greater range of motion – Arthritis sufferers are just some of those patients that report enjoying pain free movement in both small and large joints; allowing the pain-free engagement of daily activities.

Combining the unique disciplines of medicine, chiropractic, disc compression, and neuro-diagnostics in a state-of-the-art facility, Innovative Health and Wellness treats conditions ranging from chronic pain to peripheral neuropathy to food sensitivity.

Super exciting to have my husband feel and perform like he was 20 years old again. Thank you to the entire staff at Innovative Health and Wellness.

    Before:235lbs, Now 165lbs, Goal 155lbs.

    Before:235lbs, Now 165lbs, Goal 155lbs.
I had been yo-yo dieting for several years after having kids, trying to lose the extra weight I had gained when pregnant. I tried just about every diet out there and failed at each one of them because they weren't sustainable. I was introduced to the Ketogenic diet in June of 2018 and thats when my weight loss journey truly began. I give credit to Innovative Health & Wellness by keeping me accountable in my weight loss journey with weekly weigh ins, support from the entire team and educated coaching. I'm loving my new lifestyle and finally feel comfortable in my own skin!

“Love this place! Stefania and Valerie at the front desk are so sweet:) They always have smiles on their faces, and are so helpful! I came here at the recommendation of a friend after being rear ended in a wreck, and having awful neck pain. I have to admit I was a little nervous at first because I am a very private person, and it is difficult for me to have people in my personal space, but the whole staff made me feel so comfortable! Dr. Orlando is so kind and gentle. He really puts your mind at ease, and just makes you feel better!!! I don’t know how they do it, but no matter what kind of day I’ve had at work, I always leave this place smiling:) Thanks for taking such great care of me!!!”*

I have lost 60 pounds and definitely could not have done it without the support and encouragement of the staff! I go there every week for weigh-ins and blood pressure checks, and they have become like family to me. They go through my highs and lows with me, and keep me on track. It has been a life-changing experience, and I would highly recommend Innovative if you are ready to lose weight and lead a healthier life!”*
