Being fit and healthy is more popular than ever in today's health-conscious society. Despite being trendy, many men and women in our country still find it hard to shed unwanted pounds. They stick to a healthy diet and go to the gym on a regular basis but still aren't able to achieve the weight loss results they crave. They notice stubborn fat deposits around areas like the arms, stomach, and neck. These fatty areas are undoubtedly unsightly, but also a potential sign that serious health issues may be present, like heart disease.
If you're nodding your head in agreement as you read this, take it as a sign that it's time to address your weight problems. Because, if we're being honest, obesity is a major problem in the U.S. - according to research from the NIH, over 30% of people are obese in the U.S. Obese men and women are at a greater risk of severe issues, including:

To help you understand the true benefits of seeing our weight loss doctors, it's important you first understand what obesity is and what causes it to affect so many Americans.
When you become a member of our weight loss clinic in Forest Valley, GA, you'll learn quickly that obesity is a multifaceted disease. It's most often characterized by the accumulation of excessive body fat. Though it's typically characterized as a cosmetic concern, it's actually a serious medical problem that increases your risk of severe health complications. Often, obese individuals find it challenging to shed weight due to environmental, genetic, and physiological factors.
Our FDA-approved program includes:
Lack of sleep can have negative impacts on your body as it can lead to increased appetite and hormonal changes, ultimately causing obesity. It's very important that you get enough sleep to maintain your well-being, and by proxy, your weight.
Some hormone problems, as well as certain medications, can lead to weight gain. This includes conditions like an underactive thyroid, Cushing syndrome, and polycystic ovary syndrome, as well as medications like antidepressants, corticosteroids, and seizure medications.
Popular beverages like beers and sodas are chock-full of liquid calories that never fill you up. Mix in dehydration from lack of water and a poor diet, and you've got an equation that almost always equals obesity.
We live in a day and time where stress from work and from life is a prevalent as obesity. When you're stressed, it's easy to give in and consume unhealthy foods like candies and burritos. While doing so can give you a short spike of dopamine, it won't last. Eating sweets and fast foods is one of the worst ways to deal with stress.
Studies indicate that genetics can influence the development of obesity. In fact, certain genetic disorders, such as Prader-Willi syndrome, can lead directly to obesity. Genes may also make some individuals more susceptible to weight gain. However, researchers believe that other factors, such as a sedentary lifestyle or a diet rich in calorie-dense foods, are also necessary for a person to become overweight.
If you aren't very active on a daily basis, chances are you're eating more calories than your body is able to burn off. With the advent of smart devices and other popular entertainment options, living a sedentary life is more common than ever.
This one is a no-brainer. If you only eat greasy burgers and carb-packed foods, you'll continue to gain weight.
When you quit smoking, your body can literally breathe a breath of fresh air. However, quitting cigarettes and nicotine can also cause weight fluctuations. When left to spiral out of control, it can lead to obesity.
Many obese Americans are shamed daily for how they look. It never feels good to be made fun of or stared at, but obese people have more to worry about than what others think. They are at risk for several fatal or long-term health issues. Many of those issues are among the leading causes of death in the U.S. Generally, the more you weigh, the greater chance you have of developing bad and even fatal complications such as:
If you have one or more of the symptoms or conditions listed above, don't get too down on yourself. You're not destined to live an unhealthy life. When you choose medical weight loss help from a clinic like Innovative Health and Wellness, you can turn your life around and steer it toward a path of positivity and productivity.
When you're obese and learn that you're at risk for major health events like heart attacks and strokes, it can make you anxious and want to lose weight ASAP. Unfortunately, many overweight people turn to fad diets and "lose weight quick" programs.
If you were to ask a random person on the street to name a trendy diet, they could probably name one, past or present. Diets like Paleo, South Beach Atkins, and Keto are well-known to most people. However, the issue with these diets is that they may not work for everyone, and even when they do, the outcomes are not always long-lasting.
Some common characteristics of unhealthy fad diets include:
Maintaining a healthy weight is a positive habit that can keep you happy and fit. However, weight loss isn't just about fitting into old clothes from college or looking good on a date night. It's about feeling better and improving your overall health in the long run. Achieving that goal is where working with a medical weight loss clinic starts to make a lot of sense.
Some additional benefits of choosing a weight loss clinic include:
Although weight loss surgery can be effective, it involves risks and a long recovery period. Can you imagine wanting to lose weight but having to wait weeks or longer to recover from an intense, invasive procedure? Medical weight loss programs - like those at Innovative Health and Wellness - aim to help individuals achieve weight loss goals without the need for surgery. Therefore, medical weight loss programs are designed to provide a safer and less invasive approach to weight loss management.
At Innovative Health and Wellness, we understand that a one-size-fits-all diet doesn't work for everyone and often leads to failure or yo-yo dieting. That's why we offer a personalized weight loss program tailored to your individual needs - not someone who matches your general body type, age, and weight. In fact, we take the time to understand your history and the contributing factors to your unique case, and then we help you develop a healthy diet plan that's best suited for you.
Our weight loss program also includes nutritional counseling to teach you how to make healthy food choices. You'll have access to medical professionals who are there to support you every step of the way, answer any questions, and provide encouragement. With our personalized weight loss program, you can achieve your weight loss goals and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Losing weight is not just about following a diet plan. It requires a complete change in lifestyle and an active routine. A medical weight loss program can assist you in learning about the best exercises for your body and current physical condition. Having a support system while dieting is crucial, and having an exercise counselor to keep you motivated and on track is often the key to success for those who find it difficult to commit to a workout schedule.
Our medical experts will guide you in understanding which exercises to do, how much and how often. They will also let you know when it's time to adjust your exercise regimen.
Using a weight loss clinic to help you lose weight isn't just effective - it's one of the safest ways to shed lbs., too. Without professional supervision from a weight loss clinician, you run the risk of:
If you're looking to lose weight fast with no diet needed, it might be time to recalibrate your priorities. At Innovative Health and Wellness, our clinicians don't only focus on helping you lose weight. They also address issues related to hormone imbalances, physical therapy, high blood pressure, chiropractic concerns, and overall diet. We're committed to changing your life, one healthy choice at a time.
People who are overweight and wish to start dieting or exercising should be careful not to do so without proper supervision. Without guidance, they may become frustrated, feel defeated, and ultimately either give up or revert to their old habits.
When a doctor supervises a weight loss program, you are more likely to follow the recommended diet and exercise routines because they are tailored to suit your specific needs. Plus, medical professionals do not judge you; they accept you as you are and support and encourage you to increase your chances of success in the program.
Joining Innovative Health and Wellness means reclaiming your life. It is an important decision that you must make soon before your health deteriorates further. If you want to feel and look better and live a life free of obesity, our medical weight loss clinic in Forest Valley, GA is the perfect place for you.

I set off half an hour before sunrise up the rocky trail. It was chilly in the predawn light, with just enough glow in the sky that I could see cactus spreading in every direction and big mesas of rock.
After months of temperatures above 100 degrees Fahrenheit, it's finally cooling off in Arizona's Sonoran Desert. I decided to take advantage of the milder weather to trek into the Superstition Wilderness, a 140,000 acre expanse in the mountains east of Phoenix.
The first part of my hike, I startled a herd of mule deer. They scattered among the saguaro, their white tails flashing. In the dim light there were birds everywhere.
Using trekking poles, I picked my way over scree slopes and rocky trails. Minute by minute, the morning sun repainted the world.
First the vast orange cliffs above caught the light. Then bright red berries and finally big sweeps of lush buttery yellow flowers.
Soon I came to a stage of high rock that looked out across the dry river valley to the distant mountains, so craggy, so knife-edged, they seemed unreal.
If you saw this painting in a museum, you'd think some early painter of the Old West had let their imagination run wild.
I hiked on, dropping down steep trails into the valley where I could see a vein of bright green forest surrounded by the desert.
Hour by hour, the heat rose. The climbing sun scattered the last of the shade. I pulled on my sunhat and stopped often to drink.
Finally, I reached the bottom of the valley where I hopped and scrambled over round river stones. In the midst of the desert, I found what felt like a secret forest.
So far as I could tell, I had the vast valley to myself. For a long time I just sat under a shimmering tree, no cell service, no voices, just silence.
When I finally started for home, it was hot — not the 110-degree Fahrenheit temperature of high summer, but well into the 90s F. As I climbed, the trail smelled of dust and sage and my own sweat.
By late afternoon, I made it back onto one of the high buttresses of rock that sit above the valley, where I could take in a last view of the vast emptiness and magnificent solitude.

A few hours' drive from the hustle and bustle of Atlanta lies a medley of mountains and expansive vistas just waiting for a weekend trip. The Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forests are not only home to the highest peak in the Peach State, but they're also known to outdoor enthusiasts as the entrance to the ultimate adventure: the Appalachian Trail.
Here, ridges, valleys, and waterfalls charm visitors year-round, offering hiking, biking, and camping unlike any other in the state. Some come for a few miles; others move up the trail for months to hike the duration. But as enchanting as the Appalachian trail is on its own, there's an adventure to be had in every corner of this Georgia getaway. Whether you're camping or glamping in style, here are eight can't-miss spots in this treasured region of the North Georgia mountains.
You don't have to thru-hike the Appalachian Trail to get a taste of what makes this mountain range so iconic. For a day-long hiking adventure, set your sights on the Springer Mountain Loop trail to see where the AT officially begins (or ends, for those hikers traveling north-to-south). If you'd rather do something shorter, a simple 1-mile walk from the Springer Mountain parking lot will also take you to the peak, where a bronze plaque and register for hikers marks the momentous spot.
While you're by Springer Mountain, don't miss Amicalola Falls. The highest cascading waterfall east of the Mississippi River and the tallest in the state, Amicalola drops 720 feet to put on a spectacular cliffside show. Hike the Amicalola Falls East Ridge Trail, an enjoyable, 2-mile there-and-back walk, to experience the crest of the falls before descending stairs alongside the water. The trail takes you to the bottom where you can take in the full view.
On a clear day, you can see four states from Brasstown Bald Visitor Information Center, which is the highest point in Georgia at 4,784 feet above sea level—you may even be able to spot Atlanta's skyline. Sweeping 360-degree views await after a curvy, scenic drive and a short, paved path to the peak. A large observation deck offers visitors a comfortable spot to camp out for a sunset view. There are three trailheads to choose from if you feel like taking a hike. Plus, take a stroll through the onsite natural science and history museum.
Day hikers will love the rocky slopes and clearings of Blood Mountain, the highest peak on the Georgia section of the Appalachian Trail. Hop on the 6-mile Blood Mountain Loop to the summit to enjoy a full day among the hardwoods that even includes a stint on the Appalachian Trail. Visitors looking for a shorter taste of the mountain may enjoy Byron Reece Trail of just 1.35 miles which explores Blood Mountain's lower levels and takes hikers through a beautiful forest.
Looking for a particularly picturesque water view? At Anna Ruby Falls, two creeks come together on the slopes of Tray Mountain to tumble down the rocky landscape in a rare forked fashion. All that's required is a short, half-mile paved stroll to reach the viewing deck. Picnicking, hiking, fishing, and enjoying the gorgeous view of the cascading falls are all activities that can be enjoyed at the recreational area. The Visitor Center regularly hosts activities and events throughout the year—so check out their website before your visit.
8 Best Things To Do On A Visit To Helen, Georgia
Take a step back in time by visiting Track Rock Gap where six soapstone boulders preserve more than a hundred carvings created by Native Americans about a thousand years ago. From animals and bird tracks to handprints and footprints, the petroglyphs are one of the most significant archaeological sites in the South.
Though the countless campsites in the region are easily a hiker's haven, those who are less inclined to pitch a tent are guaranteed a little nature-filled R&R at Getaway. These tiny cabins nestled near your favorite North Georgia adventures offer floor-to-ceiling windows and queen-size beds with a side of s'mores and foil packets cooked over an open flame. Take a little drive to explore some famous northern Georgia waterfalls, including Fall Branch Falls, Long Creek Falls, Sea Creek Falls, and Amicalola Falls. There are also many lakes nearby including, Winfield Scott, Blue Ridge, Nottely, and Chatuge. Plus, feel free to explore the many onsite trails—you might even see a bald eagle.
Dyar Pasture Recreation Area is a 60-acre wetland bird sanctuary and a dreamland for birding enthusiasts. Not only do birds thrive here, but a diverse ecosystem of animals and plants can be found at Dyar Pasture. Which makes for a tranquil afternoon, trying to spot the different species. A short quarter-mile hike from the parking lot takes you to a wildlife viewing platform. There are plenty of picnic spots so bring your basket. Plus, If you're up to go boating, there is a boat launch with access to the Oconee River and Lake Oconee.

The Nature Conservancy and Nature Valley are teamed up to support our forests. Trees and forests provide many benefits to our planet. They give us clean air to breathe and filter clean water for us to drink. They also help curb climate change by trapping carbon from the atmosphere. TNC is planting trees across the globe through our Plant a Billion Trees program.
Your donation can turn the tide of deforestation and help us protect and expand forests.
Helping save the Earth from deforestation, one tree at a time. New research by TNC, WRI and other partners shows that restoration and other land management improvements could provide more than a third of the emissions reductions necessary to keep global warming under 2°C. A project in Brazil’s Serra da Mantiqueira region demonstrates how protecting and restoring forests can increase water security, bolster rural economies and mitigate climate change.

Back in 2012, The Nature Conservancy collaborated with the state of Tennessee to acquire what now comprises the Doe Mountain Recreation Area, one of the largest remaining privately owned blocks of forest in the Southern Blue Ridge region. The partners pursued this acquisition as the property was headed to auction due to bankruptcy and vulnerable to being sold for timber clear cutting. Instead, TNC and then-Lieutenant Governor Ron Ramsey worked to create the Doe Mountain Recreation Area board, which pursued a vision of bringing economic relief to Johnson County by balancing outdoor recreation and land conservation. Today, the 8,600-acre property is managed by the Doe Mountain Recreation Authority (DMRA) under the direction of its board, on which TNC sits.
Doe Mountain’s more than 60 miles of trails support a multi-use recreational destination that draws outdoor enthusiasts from several states for hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, an archery and axe-throwing range, and low-impact ATV touring. The highest peak at Doe Mountain is approximately 3,900 feet above sea level. The property—together with surrounding Southern Appalachian forests—also supports some 40 rare plants and animals as well as plentiful deer, turkey, black bear and other species.
OPEN TO THE PUBLIC

Trails are open daily, year-round from 8:30 am to 6:00 pm, except on major holidays. Inclement weather closures will be announced on the DMRA Facebook page.

Throughout Tennessee, TNC protects and manages forestlands that harbor wildlife and generate income for private landowners and local communities. Forests also filter air while reducing carbon in the atmosphere.
Along these lines, the DMRA registered Doe Mountain as a forest carbon project in 2019. After a baseline for carbon storage levels is established, scientists will periodically measure the health and carbon capturing ability of Doe Mountain’s forests to determine the impacts of conservation and restoration strategies implemented over a 40-year period.
The DMRA will also sell carbon credits to corporations seeking to offset emissions. As markets for forest carbon have matured, managing forests to maximize value beyond timber is a growing. Revenues from these transactions will be dedicated to conserving and operating an adventure trails system at Doe Mountain, a project that serves as a model for the economic and ecological benefits of sustainable forest and recreation management.
Here are some of the things you will see and do at Doe Mountain.
Help us work with landowners and ensure a future in which people and nature can thrive.
